65096 DASYLIRION WHEELERII AGAVE HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.50 Distinctive desert plant from Mexico. Similar to the previous species but which more a bit more green leaves and slightly more spines. Is easy to grow with little maintenance; like the previous plant, it can be grown with plant care like the Beaucarnea, the pony tail plant.

31466 DEAMIA TESTUDO CAC PRICE: $ 2.75 The easily grown "Dogtail Cactus" perfect for baskets as the ornately ribbed fat stem sections will create an impressive jumbled cascade in time. But if given the chance to climb, however, this rain forest tropical becomes an agressive scandent tropical vine. Sent as very easily rooted URCuttings in dry moss. If you can kill this, you deserve a distinguished medal from the International Brotherhood of the Brown Thumb.

60653 DIDIERIA TROLLII DID HP TGH $ 12.50 "Creeping Thicket" Extremely limited numbers. These plants arch and characteristically grow prostrate until very old at which point tall central thick trunks arise from the central bramble. Good in house in its managable juvenile form.

60044 DISCHIDIA ALBIDA [HORT] ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.50 "Propeller Vine" Propeller-shaped pairs of attractive gray- green leaves on soft swollen pendant (or climbing if it can find something to twine around) stems make this a great basket subject--extremely popular twining about on open wire topiary frams. Bizarre little clusters of urn shaped blimp blossoms sometimes appear at leaf nodes. Typically sent as an URCutting in dry moss.

59179 DISCHIDIA SPECIES # 77111 [WAKEFIELD] ASC TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.75 Attractive vine with opposite succulent leaves closely set so that the stems gracefully bend under their accumulated weight to create attractive cascades of fleshy foliage; odd blimp blossoms like tiny urns appear in cute tight clusters.

60049 DISCHIDIA MILNEI ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75 "Rain of Coins" Stiff slim stems covered with masses of coin shaped, slightly curled rine gray leaves. Easy houseplant. 60970 DISCHIDIA NUMMULARIFOLIA MARGINATA ASC HP TGH PRICE: $ 9.25 Succulent fat green button leaves, each margined in rich ivory, are closely paired on the surface stems which shallowly root on any epiphytic mix or cork bark or treefern plaque. We have seen these growing in hanging baskets also with great effect--but be cautious in choosing the mix as this only has surface roots. One of our favorite plants despite its stringent cultural demands. These "Owl Eyes" flourish in light garden conditions. Typically sent as mossed URCuttings.

61024 DISCHIDIA RUSCIFOLIA ASC TGH $ 8.25 Slim stems ranked with small fleshy trapizoidal leaves. Very cute; much admired by those who collect the smaller statured Hoyas. As with all Dischidias, this needs a perfectly drained epiphytic mix in order to thrive, soon forming an arching carpet of deep green cookie cutter foliage. 52099 DYCKIA CARLSBAD [HYB] BRO HP CGH PRICE: $ 18.00 Thick-leaved hybrid smaller than D platyphylla parent; first forms an elegant very succulent rosette, then offsets to form an interlaced (spiny leaved monster) mound. Our price reflects our unwillingness to tackle the daunting creature--one cannnot separate offsets without serious wounds! This handsome Agave mimic is an eyecatcher in any collection of perfectly symetrical hemispheres.

61022 DYCKIA DAWSONII NARROW CLONE BRO TGH HP PRICE: $ 22.00 Very ornate impressively armed rosettes of slim skeletal leathery leaves forming a hemisphere in time; pink flowers lining the tall wands above the rosette are quite attractive.

52104 DYCKIA VELASCANA BRO HP CGH PRICE: $ 18.00 Narrow recurved triangular leaves form dense succulent stiff rosettes. Very decidedly unfriendly "False Agave" if attacked by your furry pets (will hook up and follow); but a handsome very long term specimen for that underachieving urn.

60325 ECHEVERIA BAINSEI RED CREST CRA CGH H PRICE: $ 7.25Wine red tipped paddle-shaped slim leaves in scalloped congregations atop the small statured undulating ridges of the wide-fanded stems. Odd, yet attractive winter growing "Red Cockscomb"--we've reports that this performs extremely well in lite gardens.

60359 ECHEVERIA DORIS TAYLOR [HYB] CRA HP CGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Originally received from Hummel, this is an heirloom hybrid of Echevaria setosa with E. pulvinata, with resultingly stout stubby stems thickly covered with rosettes of fat glossy leaves thickly pelted with white hairs. Orchid Cactus (EPIPHYLLUM) for the 2012 SEASON

The ORCHID CACTUS can be ordered for a great beginning EPIPHYLLUM COLLECTION with Stock #99676 for five distinctive plants for only PRICE: $12.00
As with Rhipsalis, these usually will be sent as URCuts if not currently established in pots. These and other true Cacti (offered herein as Erythrorhipsalis, Opuntia, Pereskia, Rhipsalis, Hatiora, Hylocerus, Lophocerus & Mammilaria, etc) all require endangered species paper work when shipped abroad--yes, even those which are tropical weeds & even those which exist nowhere as a "native species" simply because they are man made hybrids! The minds of government officials remain mysteriously irrational. Thus, we prefer not to ship any Cactus family members outside the USA borders as the paperwork can become quite expensive--and in the case of Canadian customers, so complicated as to be downright mind numbing, especially as some Canadian inspectors are convinced that plants native to the equatorial climates of the world will escape your home and croud out the Canadian natives in the icy meadowlands and tundra.
.

66253 EPIPHYLLUM BLUSH BOB CAC CGH HP PRICE: $ 4.75 Modest upright long lasting greenish white flowers gradually fade to ivory blushed violet -- easily produced on the slim stems which typically branch from the base to form a balanced habit for hanging basket not characteristic of most "Orchid Cactus" hybrids which develop what can, at best, be described as a "free form" habit..

66227 EPIPHYLLUM BRIDAL VEIL [HYB] CAC CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.25 Irridescent pearl white flowers; in high light, the thick foliage develops a blushed edge. This hybrid will not form buds without high light and a coolish fall period.

66210 EPIPHYLLUM BURNING DAWN [HYB] CAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00Dark orange blossoms. Sent as mossed URCuttings.

66172 EPIPHYLLUM CARMINE QUEEN [HYB] CAC TGH HP PRICE: $ 6.00 Unusually transparent petals give extra carmine shimmer. Sent as mossed URcuts.

66021 EPIPHYLLUM CHRYSOCARDIUM CAC HP CGH PRICE: $ 12.00 "Fernleaf Cactus" Bright glossy green flat stems in wide fish-bone pattern; nightblooming white flowers with masses of golden filaments suggest its native Mexican name, "Golden Heart." Impressive in large hanging baskets--but be reminded that this species is a long term project. We send URCuttings in dry moss. Do not confuse this with the easier, smaller statured "Rickrack Cactus" offered above as Cryptocereus anthonyanus.

66171 EPIPHYLLUM CINDY'S RED [HYB] CAC HP CGH PRICE: $ 5.75Thick stems support very large irridescent scarlet flowers. Sent as a mossed URCutting.

66025 EPIPHYLLUM CLARENCE WRIGHT [HYB] CAC HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.75 Large-statured hybrid with recurved petals, in shades of golden lemon to bronze, creating a bell-shaped blossom. Sent as an URCutting in moss.

66024 EPIPHYLLUM CRENATUM CAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75Cylindrical epiphytic stems with thick midnerve develop into thick flat waxy crenate "wings" irregularly notched and moulded. Large extravagantly fragrant blossoms, red, white, & ochre with yellow stamens; this likely is the cultivar known as `Chichicastenango,' from Guatemala. Certainly one of the most interesting species, as the art noveau designs of the wildly irregularly lobed thick flat stems are highly decorative in and of themselves. Send this to a friend who loves and needs symmetry and observe them gradually go mad. URCuttings in moss are typically sent.

68174 EPIPHYLLUM GUATAMALENSIS MONSTROSA CAC CGH HP PRICE: $ 12.00 . Not only has not been seen to bloom, looks constantly prostrated with the cares of the world even in the best of conditions. A plant for the Oddities collection. Fortunately, not hard to grow. Take a gander at the images!

66027 EPIPHYLLUM KING MIDAS [HYB] CAC HP CGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Strong growing "Golden Orchid Cactus" Heavy succulent stems support large glowing yellow flowers with apricot blush. Sent as mossed URCuttings.

66167 EPIPHYLLUM MUSKMELON CAC TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.25 Beautifully colored pink-salmon fading to buff flowers. (Does this scream "Cantalope" to you?) Strong statured antique hybrid of uncertain origin. Sent as mossed URCuttings.

66023 EPIPHYLLUM OXYPETALUM CAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.00 "Night Blooming Cereus" or "Orchid Cactus" Large fragrant white flowers, rose outside, on flat waxy crenate "leaves" (actually the terminal sections of the stems) flaring out at the ends of the lower supporting stiff rounded stems. This is the one Grandma drug out to the open front porch so that every possible neighbor could be collared and brought over to the porch for those several summer nights the giant scented blossoms opened in all their unreal splendor. Maybe I've lived in a small town too long?

66259 EPIPHYLLUM PEGASUS PURPLE CAC TGH HP PRICE: $ 5.25 Thick heavy foliage; hard to describe violet purple showy blossoms with a distinct orangish red cast. Quite outside our color vocabulary. Sent as a mossed URCutting.

66032 EPIPHYLLUM PINK EMPRESS [HYB] CAC HP CGH PRICE: $6.00 Old reliable hybrid with many salmon-pink flowers on succulent tidy foliage which makes an excellent basket with time. Sent as a mossed URCutting.

66228 EPIPHYLLUM REECE COOKE [HYB] CAC CGH HP PRICE: $ 6.75 Glowing pastel red on typical flat branching plant. This is a medium flower size but a good deep color--may take considerable patience to get this up to blooming steam. Sent as a mossed URCutting.

66193 EPIPHYLLUM SPECIES GRANADA WHITE CAC CGH HP PRICE: $ 3.75 Lovely slim deep green ribbons cascade to present the white winter blossoms. Very effective grown as a cascading specimen of cascading succulent ribbons like upsidedown seaweed--would never even need to bloom in order to deserve a place in any display. An excellent one to start with as a houseplant as it is native to an area without any cool autumn period, and thus does not require the cool (but not chill) fall temperatures required by most the giant flowered hybrids in order to initiate their flower buds. Cheap and easy. The ideal date.

66034 ERYTHRORHIPSALIS PILOCARPA CAC HP TGH PRICE: $ 425 "Rice Cactus" or "Bristle-tufted Twig-cactus" Sao Paulo native with handsome arched branches accented by tufts of fur in which also nestle the numerous pearl-like berries. Like its cousins the Rhipsalis, most successfully shipped as an URCutting in dry moss.

The Various Spurges (EUPHORBIA) for the 2012 SEASON

As we enjoy an international reputation for distinctive species & hybrids of the Madagascar "Crown of Thorns" complex, and as as many are too limited in stock to list individually below, we offer you an introduction to their diversity with the CROWN OF THORNS COLLECTION under Stock #99697 for 5 plants at PRICE: $17.50. This collection can include some of the dwarf species in this group of plants, like Euphorbia francoisii to add to the diversity of this collection. This group is for the collector of oddities and visual diversities. If you want particular hybrids or species, be sure to order them individually with their stock numbers; because we gather this selection separately from the best plants available on the week they are mailed and thus the plants are completely our selections in order to maintain this dashingly low introductory price.

Or, with Stock #99024 order 10 "Why Not Spurge?" plants as the TROPICAL EUPHORBIAS COLLECTION for only PRICE: $38.00, for a range of species, odd and unusual hybrids, and possibly even including a cousin Monadenim or Synadenium. This will give an introduction to the sheer range of this most excellent genus (does not include any winter hardy temperate zone types).

67548 EUPHORBIA AMBOVOMBENSIS EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00 Madagascar beauty of compact habit: scalloped laquered deep green leaves with ruffled edges layered over a central caudex. Always beautiful, especially when presented in a small low bonsai pot.

67287 EUPHORBIA BEHARENSIS EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Smooth reddish or gray spiny stems branch to form interlocking shrubs with dusky bracted "Crown of Thorns" type cyathea--an Alluaudia mimic of Madagascar.

67514 EUPHORBIA BEHARENSIS CRANBERRY COWBOY [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 8.25 A Massara "Crown of Thorns" hybrid with E. milii bosseri producing a remarkable closely packed vase-shaped thicket of heavily spined richly toned stems studded with many very showy red-carmine cyathophylls clearly on the blue side of red (no orange): a major blossom color breakthrough! The eventual habit is also quite elegant as forms a vertical cluster of stunning stems arching outward at the apex to suggest the dimensions of a large vase. Always outstanding--plant show competition judges seem to agree.

67013 EUPHORBIA BOUGHEYI EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.25 Curious wavy flat stems wave and dip; effective in baskets. With maturity, a woody trunk develops from the base creating a living sculpture. Mozambique's "Ribbon Spurge" does not demand full sun, preferring broken light as the skin can scar if watered midday in scorching sun.

67023 EUPHORBIA AMMAK VARIEGATA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 27.50 "Ammak Euphorbia" The entire surface is overlaid a creamy rich white chocolate; splashy specimen for any speciality collection--for unclear reasons, called "Ammak" in California. We have the original name as "Euphorbia candelabrum eritryeae variegatum".

67014 EUPHORBIA BRACHIATA [HORT] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.75 "Mini-Pencil Cactus" Spineless beautiful, much-divided slim pencil branches creating a compact woody thicket. Also known as E. intisy. With time, this sophisticated species can achieve considerable dimensions, yet will always maintain more intricate, more intensely intersticed stems and stemlets than the open growing habit found in the similar, but big boned, E. tirucalli. We also find this much more successful than other "Pencil" types as a companion plant in combination planting designs due to a much finer and more intensely branched habit.

67025 EUPHORBIA CAPSAINTMARIENSIS EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.50 From flat richly colored wide turnip caudex arise silvery gray stubby branches tipped with undulant red-green leaves; ocher cyathophylls emphasize the foliar tones. Among the most successful small caudiforms for the windowsill or litegarden.

67078 EUPHORBIA CYLINDRIFOLIA TUBERIFERA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 14.50 Seedlings develop wide attractive caudiform base over which grow corky-patterned stubby stems ranked with fat tiny boat leaves (terete to a fault). Develops splendidly under artificial lights; especially successful at winning shows when presented in a small low bonsai pot.

67081 EUPHORBIA DECARYII DECARYII [NOVA] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 6.00 Formerly offered as Euph.`Hummel Clone.' Both the stubby stem and the thick leaves are sugary rine-gray. Larger statured than E.d. spirosticha. Handsome in small bonsai pot.

67080 EUPHORBIA DECARYII SPIROSTICHA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 5.00 Wonderful Madagascar native with miniature corky rine-gray spiralling stems and thick dark crinkled fleshy leaves with raised veins; cyathophylls typically soft tan, down-turned. Glorious in a small bonsai pot.

67294 EUPHORBIA DELPHINENSIS EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 SOMETIMES LIMITED AVAILABILITY Silvery muted stems gently arch to display oval distinctively deeply colored blunt rubbery leaves and modest green cyathophylls tipped red.

67031 EUPHORBIA DELPHINENSIS PRETTY IN PINK [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 Massara hybrid with large down-arched stems, cloaked with dark foliage, with weeping long-stalked flowers of rich dark pink. Slow to establish, but very distinctive habit and tone.

67427 EUPHORBIA DURANII HONKEY TONK [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 15.00 Massara's much-branched slow growing hybrid with clean glacous foliage on silvery spined trunks produces apricot "Crown-of-Thorns" flowers flecked with tones of adobe orange. Very impressive for amount of blossoms produced throughout the seasons and for ability to withstand somewhat exposed conditions.

67088 EUPHORBIA FLANAGANII CRISTATA--ARM CREST EUP HP TGH $ 15.00 "Green Coral Plant" Deep green grooved fans of succulent stems form irregularly hemispherical clusters. Often throws a small "Medusa Head" arm to reveal its origins. Always popular with succulent fanciers as it gradually tumbles over the edges of a small pot; now also popular with dish garden , terrarium, and lite gardeners as well because the compact reduced habit with the wildly crested green coral like cockscombs of tostled foliage lends itself to many staring roles.

61002 EUPHORBIA GEROLDII EUP HP TGH CGH PRICE: $ 8.75 "Everblooming Spurge" Elegant upright branching stems are cloaked with dark toned rubbery leaves perfectly framing the rich red cyathophylls (the "blossoms") which are produced with full light, even warmth, and good fertilizer. Looks like (and behaves like) a friendly thornless/spineless "Crown of Thorns" which does not require the light or humidity strictures of most succulents.

67409 EUPHORBIA HETEROCHROMA EUP HP TGH $ 7.00 Rich green squared erect stems patterned in pale green. Branches nicely with maturity; tiny green inflorescence. The next group should be ready fall '08.

66796 EUPHORBIA HETEROPHYLLA YOKOI'S WHITE EUP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 The poinsettia shaped leaves are richly margined with cream; totally perfect when paired with the annual speckled red bracts appearing early fall. From Dr. Masato Yokoi's find in Okinawa in 1989--need to re-root regularly to prevent the urge to be an annual! Not technically a succulent, but too remarkable not to mention here.

67111 EUPHORBIA HORRIDA SNOWFLAKE [NOVA] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 12.00 Impressive fissured short truncate trunks impressively offsetting with age; dusky ashy pewter overlay entirely over the heavy ribs (not deeply fissured as with the wild species) with ranks of very short ornate spines. Needs very bright light.

60785 EUPHORBIA INGENS CONFUSUS EUP TGH HP PRICE: $ 18.00 Large statured "Candlestick Spurge" with upright columns of deeply fluted ribs--this antique form originally received from Ed Hummel shows interesting patterns on the trunk.

67127 EUPHORBIA KNUTHII EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.50 Very attractive gnarled caudex toped with a skirt of angled cascading stems with gray-green central stripes. Very easy to grow. Beautifully display this succulent in an oval bonsia pot so you can win best of show. An excellent introduction to the world of caudex plants.

67187 EUPHORBIA MILII BOSSERI CREST [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 25.00Stunning fanned stems with occassional reversions producing rosy red cyathophylls. Becomes increassingly amazing with age as the wide cockscombed (fasciated) stems develop elaborate fluted coral outlines. Seems to be the most ordered of any of our "Succulent Spurge" offerings for several seasons now! Do not discard any "reversions" as they often develop a fasciation in time.

67483 EUPHORBIA MILII CREME DE MENTHE [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 10.00 A Massara E.m. bosseri x delphinensis hybrid with glossy weeping stems, armed with sharp spines, clothed with rubbery dark foliage, and studded with petite bright green blossoms; perfect for a hanging basket. While this Massara creation's habit may be disconcerting to some, it does lend itself admirably to forming a skirt when planted with a more upright type.

67755 EUPHORBIA MILII DEAD MILKMEN [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 7.00 Slim spiny trunks with dusky pink to buff apricot flowers. Makes a great punk succulent bonsai. Blame Kip Traughber for the name. Both the "Crown of Thorns" and Kip remain reprobates.

67517 EUPHORBIA MILII EGADS! [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Pale lemon custard cyathophylls with showy apricot halo on heavily branched thick stems fiercely decorated with dense spines. Easily grown Frieling hybrid.

67912 EUPHORBIA MILII X DIDIEREOIDES FIERCE EUP TGH PRICE: $ 18.00 Impressively thick silvery trunks with clustered spines and thick leaves produce bizarre groups of mini evil green hued cyathophylls throughout the year. If big matters, this is most certainly your kind of "Crown of Thorns".

67205 EUPHORBIA MILII GOODNESS PINKNESS EUP PRICE: $ 7.25Frieling hybrid: thorny splendens habit; odd pink-clay toned cyathophylls--reliably everblooming given good light, heat, and adequate fertilizer.

67447 EUPHORBIA MILII GREEN MEANIE [HYB] EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 4.75 Sulphur-ochre caythophylls accented with unusually bright, prominent sulphur-colored lower bracts at base; thich midveins on long leaves. Odd Frieling hybrid still popular.

67157 EUPHORBIA MILII IMPERATAE EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 3.25 "Dwarf Crown-of-thorns" Heavily branched miniature with everblooming small wide red cyathophylls. Some offer this as E. splendens bojeri.

67445 EUPHORBIA MILII IMPERATAE VARIEGATA EUP HP TGH PRICE: $ 22.00 Red elongated small cyathophylls punctuate the very lovely variegated foliage: each small pert leaf displays a dramatic bright creamy gold margin; short stubby stems grow slowly. 67446 EUPHORBIA MILII MORBIUS [HYB] EUP PRICE: $ 6.00 Gray stems fan out in crests with reduced spines; tiny thin-tailed green cyathophylls suggest E. mahafalensis parent. Selected by Frieling. Leaves are blunt on the tips.
